River Boat
Is the weather in Guilin in November suitable for a sunrise boat trip on the river Li?Would daytime be better?
I am visiting Guilin in November and I want to go on a boat trip towards Yangshuo. I know most people go during the day, but I have heard it can be very busy and the trip doesn't last very long in the Winter when the river is low. I have also read about 1hr 30min trips from Caoping at Sunrise, but can anybody tell me what the weather is normally like at that time of the morning in November in Guilin? Is sunrise spectacular, or a let down? Will there be many tourists in Guilin at that time of year?

Knaresborough, Harrogate in North Yorkshire is a beautiful tourist attraction with the River Nidd running through the heart of it.In the summer a walk along the River front is one of my favourite must dos on a hot summer's weekend. There is something unique about Knaresborough in the summer, it has the feel of a seaside holiday resort yet it is slap bang in the middle of the country with no sandy beaches to be seen.
So how does it give this feeling? Well maybe it's the many cafes' selling ice cream such as my favourite pit stop along the front the Riverside Cafe? Maybe it's the castle at the top of the steep walk up the cliff side? Maybe it's the bowling green at the top in the castle grounds? Maybe it's the beer gardens or of course it could be the world famous Old Mother Shipton's cave but for me, and we all have our own thoughts on this, for me it is one of the most enjoyable family attractions of all for the summer and that is to hire a boat and paddle up and down the River Nidd amongst the ducks and fellow boaters all having a great time in the sun and water.
I have great memories of this as a child playing on the boats, feeding the ducks with some crusty bread my Mum would bring along in a clear plastic bag. I would splash the water at my Mum, Dad, brothers and admittedly some unsuspecting passersby. We would have a great time laughing at my Mum crying for us to stop and my Dad trying to protect her albeit half heartedly.
Now as an adult I have to admit that I equally enjoy my boat rides but for very different reasons. As an adult I enjoy watching children do exactly what I used to do at their age, there can be nothing more infectious than seeing a family laughing and playing together and where better to do this than on Knaresborough's River Nidd with the boats.
Also as an adult after a long hot walk along the River front, ok it's not that long but hey I have writers licence here. As I was saying, as an adult after a long hot walk in the desert, I mean right at the top of road next the bridge that spans the River Nidd is a pub and beer garden. This makes for the perfect pit stop, nothing as an adult beats and ice cold bottled beer in the beer garden.
So if you a local and you've not yet played on the boats, why not I ask? Come on you only live once, get yourself down there and you too can make your very own memories like I have.
If you're a tourist and new to the area then please be sure to stop by to see and feel for yourself the unique atmosphere and charm that Knaresborough has to offer and when you do come to visit be sure not to forget to bring some bread for the ducks.
